2025 FLORAL HALL EXHIBITS



1.      Competition is open to residents of Shelby and adjoining counties.

2.      All entries must be made between 11:00AM and 5:00PM, Monday June 9.

3.      Judging will take place from 5:15 to 7:45PM on Monday, June 9. Only two people appointed by the fairboard president will be present in Floral Hall during the judging. No exceptions – this rule will be strictly enforced.

4.      On receipt of entries or articles, a card will be filled out specifying the lot number of the entry, with coupon attached. The coupon should be retained by the exhibitor and presented to the Superintendent no later than 1:00PM on Friday June 13 in order for the entries or articles to be picked up. If the property check is lost and the goods are taken by someone other than the owner, responsibility of the Shelby County A&M Association shall cease.

5.      No article that has taken one premium at the Shelby County Fair during the past three years shall compete for another and no article shown singularly can be shown in a collection and no article shown in a collection can be shown singularly.

6.      No person can judge in any ring in which he/she may be directly or indirectly involved.

7.      Single plates of fruit to consist of not less than five specimens; grapes – three bunches.

8.      All fruits and vegetables become the property of the Shelby County A&M Association, except when otherwise specified.

9.      The Shelby County A&M Association will not pay for any damage or loss to an exhibit while on display in Floral Hall, but will take proper care to prevent any damage or loss.

10.  A committee will receive articles at the departments in Floral Hall and see that they are properly placed.

11.  All articles of manufacture in any class or products of soil must be entered in the name of the person who manufactured or raised the same, and it shall be the duty of the committee in charge to investigate as to whether the articles were manufactured or raised by the exhibitor. Corn, small grain and seed must have been grown within on year from date of exhibition. Violation of this rule will forfeit all premiums.

12.  All ribbons won on articles in Floral Hall must remain on same until checked out.

13.  Entries must remain in Floral Hall until Friday June 13 – pick up will begin at 9:00AM and all items must be removed by 1:00PM.

14.  All premiums will be paid on the day following judging and thereafter through Saturday. No exceptions!

15.  Open classes are open to all exhibitors unless otherwise specified.

16.  If any of the above rules are not followed, the exhibitor will be forbidden to show anything at the fair and all premiums will be forfeited.

BURLEY TOBACCO SHOW

RULES:

1.      Show is open to any Shelby County tobacco grower.

2.      Entries shown must be exhibited by the original grower.

3.      Each stripped exhibit shall consist of 2 hands. Each hand shall be made up of 20 leaves or more.

4.      Best stripped crop shall consist of at least 3 grades. Each grade shall consist of 2 hands with 20 leaves or more per hand.

5.      Stripped tobacco will be judged by government standards as adopted by USDA Grading Service.

6.      Only 2 entries accepted per family.

7.      An exhibitor shall make only one entry per class.

RULES:

1.      No more than 3 entries can be made in any one class by the same person. This applies to Classes 43 – 58.

2.      Articles having won a premium in the past 3 years should not be exhibited.

3.      Artwork should be displayed on mount board, pre-cut or frames. Matting and/or mounting helps to showcase and protect artwork from damage. Frames should be securely wired in order to be hung properly.

4.      No number paintings or kits will be accepted. Prints must be submitted by the original artist.

5.      Articles must be submitted by the person creating the article or a family member.

6.      Photographs only accepted in classes 59 – 66.

RULES:

1.      All flowers entered in classes 67 – 74 to be shown in like containers provided by the Shelby County A&M Association.

2.      All flowers to be judged upon stems, foliage, and perfection of bloom.

3.      All entries must be grown by an exhibitor in Shelby County.

4.      All arrangements will be judged on arranging and the container.

5.      The Shelby County A&M Association and its volunteers will exert due care of the containers but cannot be held responsible for them.

6.      No more than 2 entries per person per class.

7.      All arrangements must be arranged and ready for exhibition before placing them on the show table.

8.      Only amateurs may show in this division.

9.      No artificial flowers, fruits or foliage accepted.
