Rules & Guidelines:

  1. Competition is Open.
  2. Registration papers will be inspected by the assistant in charge prior to the show.
  3. Animals must have complete and valid health papers which comply with Animal Health Regulations, view the Livestock Health Requirements
  4. Judges decision is final.
  5. NO straw allowed in the barn,
  6. Wash only in the wash area.

Rules & Guidelines:

  1. There will be a separate class for any breed with five or more animals. Less than five will show with other breeds.
  2. Breed classes are open
  3. Animals must have complete and valid health papers which comply with Animal Health Regulations, view the Livestock Health Requirements
  4. All cattle must be on grounds by 9AM
  5. Registration with Breed Associations required for heifers/bulls.
  6. NO straw allowed in the barn,
  7. Wash only in the wash area.
  8. Judge's decision is final

Steer Show:

  • Special class for members of the Shelby County 4H/FFA Livestock Club.
  • Exhibitors must adhere to the rules of Shelby County Steer Project Committee
  • Steers will show by weight, classes to be determined by the steer committee
  • Class for feeder steers/prospect steers will be offered.

Rabbit Show

Wednesday, June 12 @ 3PM


Premiums: 

$5/$3/$2 through end of class.


Rules and Guidelines:  


  1. Exhibitor must show their own rabbit(s) unless they have more than one animal in a class, then another youth may show for them. 
  2. Sick or diseased rabbits will be disqualified. 
  3. Breed Champions will compete for Best Senior Rabbit, Best Junior Rabbit, Champion Rabbit & Reserve Rabbits. 
  4. Decision of the Judge is final. 
  5. This is a carrying cage show. 
  6. Rabbits should be removed immediately after the show.

CLASS DIVISIONS


Rabbits will be shown by breed and will be divided into the following groups: 

Sr. Buck * Sr. Doe 

Jr. Buck * Jr. Doe 


**Breeds with less than five animals will be entered into All Other Breeds (AOB). There will also be a Mixed Breed and a Pet Quality Class.


Age Classifications: 

Sr. Buck – Male over 8 months of age. 

Sr. Doe – Female over 8 months of age. 

Jr. Buck – Male under 6 months of age. 

Jr. Doe – Female under 6 months of age.

Poultry Show

$5/$3/$2 through end of class.


Rules and Guidelines:  


  1. Show is open to all 4-H and FFA members. 
  2. State testers may be on hand to blood test birds so arrive at least one hour before the show begins. Any sick poultry or poultry showing signs of disease will be removed from the showroom. 
  3. Ribbons will be awarded to class winners. Rosettes will compete for Best in Show and reserve in Show awards. 
  4. The decision of the Judge is final

Market Goat Show

Friday, June 14 @ 3:30PM

RULES AND GUIDELINES:

  1. Goats must have some type of permanent identification (KUIP tags for Market Goats).
  2. All animals must meet health requirements.
  3. Market Goat Weigh in will be one hour prior to the show.
  4. Dairy Goats will be shown by age according to registration papers. Does only.
  5. Goats must have horns tipped or be fully dehorned and scabbed over prior show date.
  6. All market goats must have been born after September 1 of the previous year. Animals are subject to be mouthed to check age.
  7. Market Goats will show by weight. All goats must weigh a minimum of 40 pounds on show day. (Classes will be broken by weight after all animals are weighed in.)
  8. Goat exhibitors may show a total of five (5) goats.
  9. Novice Showmanship and Classes: These classes are designed to allow young exhibitors who have not reached club age to gain experience in the show ring. The class is open to exhibitors who are eight years of age and under as of January 1 of the show year regardless of prior show experience. Novice exhibitors are limited to one entry. The novice winner is not eligible to show in the Grand Champion class. 
  10. Show is open to all 4-H and FFA members.
  11. Must exhibit their own animal unless:
  12. Exhibitors have more than one individual animal in class
  13. Exhibitors have more than one individual animal in championship drive.
  14. Exhibitor has physical or mental limitations that disallow them to exhibit their own animal.
  15. Separate judges will be utilized for market and dairy goat shows. Judges decisions are final! Anyone deemed argumentative by the judge will forfeit all premiums.

Show committee is not responsible for accidents.

Market Goat Showmanship:


1.  Novice Showmanship 

      a. 3-8 years of age 

      b. It is not necessary that the youth own the lamb they show. 

2.  4-H and FFA Showmanship 

      a. Must be a current member of 4-H or FFA

      b. Must show their own animal

      c. Must meet age requirements for each age division

      d. Divisions will be as follows:

           i. Junior (age 9-11 as of January 1) 

          ii. Intermediate (age 12-13 as of Jan. 1)

         iii. Senior (age 14 & up as of January 1)

     e. Supreme Champion Showman will be chosen from the individual winners from each of the respected divisions.


Market Goat Show:

  1. Class break downs will be broken by show committee. 

 Dairy Goat Showmanship:

Rules and Guidelines:  

1.   Open to all 4-H and FFA members.

2.   All lambs must be tagged with official KUIP tags. 

3.   Lambs will be shown and separated into classes by weight.

4.   Minimum weight 60 lbs. 

5.   Maximum weight 140 lbs. 

6.   Weigh-in will be one hour prior to the show. 

7.   All lambs shown in market lamb division must have baby teeth in place (two middle incisors). 

8.   A separate class for ewes that are older will be available as a mature ewe class (market lamb mama). 

9.   Each exhibitor must show his or her animal unless: 

       a.  Exhibitor has more than one animal in an individual class. 

       b.  Exhibitor has more than one animal in championship drive. 

       c.  Exhibitor has physical or mental limitations that makes then unable to show.

10.  Lambs must be slick sheared prior to weigh-in. 

11.  An individual cannot exhibit more than five lambs. 

12.  Classes will be broken by show committee.

13.  Exhibitor must have an official ID and health certificate that meets Kentucky Health Requirements. 

14.  Judges decisions are FINAL. 

         a.  Anyone found to be argumentative by the Judge would forfeit all premiums.

Sheep Showmanship: 


1.   Novice Showmanship 

       a. 3-8 years of age 

       b. It is not necessary that the youth own the lamb they show. 

2.   4-H and FFA Showmanship 

       a. Must be a current member of 4-H or FFA

       b. Must show their own animal

       c. Must meet age requirements for each age division

       d. Divisions will be as follows:

            i. Junior (age 9-11 as of January 1) 

           ii. Intermediate (age 12-13 as of Jan. 1)

          iii. Senior (age 14 & up as of January 1)

       e. Supreme Champion Showman will be chosen from the individual winners from each of the respected divisions.


Market Sheep Show: 

1.  Novice Market Lamb Show. 

     a. Youth ages 3-8 years old

     b. Youth must exhibit a lamb not being shown in 4-H and FFA show.

2.  4-H and FFA Market Lamb Show 

     a. Must be a current member of 4-H or FFA 

     b. Must show their own animal

     c. Market Lamb Classes to be determined by the Show Committee.

3.  Mature Ewe Class (market lamb mama)

Hair Sheep: 

1.  Any hair breed of sheep, including mixed breeds, are permitted. 

2.  Washing and brushing is expected. 

3.  Tail docking is not necessary or expected.

Rules and Guidelines:

1.   Non-terminal show must be KUIP tagged. 

2.   Minimum weight 150 lbs.

3.   Maximum weight 270 lbs.

4.   Weight in will begin at 7:30AM the day of the show.

5.   Weigh in will end at 8AM the day of the show.

6.   Barrows and gilts are eligible to show. 

7.   Classes will be broken by weight after all animals are in.

8.   Exhibitors may show no more than five head. 

9.   Show is open to all 4-H and FFA members.

10. Each exhibitor must show his or her animal unless:

       a. Exhibitor has more than one animal in an individual class.

       b. Exhibitor has more than one animal in championship drive. 

       c. Exhibitor has physical or mental limitations that makes then unable to show.

11. All hogs must have an official ID and a certificate of vet inspection that includes a negative test for Brucellosis and Pseudorabies.

12. Judges decision is FINAL

       a. Anyone found to be argumentative by the Judge would forfeit all premiums.

13. Show Committee is not responsible for accidents. 

14. Exhibitor is responsible for getting hogs to show ring.


CLASS DIVISIONS

Hog Showmanship:


1.   Novice Showmanship 

      a. 3-8 years of age 

      b. It is not necessary that the youth own the lamb they show. 

2.   4-H and FFA Showmanship 

       a. Must be a current member of 4-H or FFA
